Greek Female Figure

The Etruscans

The Etruscans lived north of the Tiber River by about 900 BC. We're not sure where they came from - maybe from Asia Minor. They lived in city states and were fairly wealthy from trading their high quality metalwork and pottery.

This bronze female figure is an example of their metalwork. Bronze statuettes like this one were probably offerings to the gods or included in Etruscan graves. Much of what we know about the Etruscans comes from their tombs.
