• For information on architect Michael Graves, the designer of the Museum building, there are numerous books on the man and his architecture in bookstores and libraries. The offices of Michael Graves & Associates are located in Princeton, NJ.

• The Museum's name comes from the late Atlanta entrepreneur and philanthropist Michael C. Carlos, who was, until his death in 2002, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of National Distributing Company, Inc., an Atlanta business.
