Odyssey Online: Near East
Persepolis
Persepolis, which means "the city of the Persians," consisted of a complex of palaces and temples. Persepolis was a wealthy and magnificent city, with grand architectural monuments and luxuriant decorative arts. Because the city of Persepolis is well-preserved today, you can still see the stone platforms, columns, and stairways from the palaces and temples. You can even see the king's private chambers, his audience hall, and his throne.
