The Carlos Museum thanks our many supporters for their patience as we take necessary steps to conserve and recycle. The Museum staff is coming up with ingenious ways to preserve our environment and also address the economic crisis.
NEW IDEAS: ONLINE AND ALTERNATIVE
New ideas, besides the every-day behavioral changes, such as using the stairs and unplugging all power cords, also include recycling products and using the internet more effectively. Staff is reusing Museum promotions materials, especially banners; visitors can download the Museum calendar PDF online and can also subscribe to it through an RSS feed; and we now have new “green” incentives for visitors – a $2 admission discount for visitors who use alternative transportation (Marta, bike, etc.).

CAN’T VISIT THE GALLERIES TODAY? DOWNLOAD TWO NEW PODCASTS
The Office of Educational Programs podcasts can serve as a superb educational tool for those interested in learning about objects in the Museum’s galleries while in their homes, offices, or over their PDAs while on the move.
The Carlos announces two new additions to its Carlos Conversations podcast series, which was recently awarded the Best Use of New Technology to Explore Ancient Ideas in the Best of Atlanta issue of Atlanta Magazine. In the two new podcasts, Emory professors of religion Laurie Patton and Joyce Flueckiger discuss two images of Vishnu from the collections. In one, Visnhu reclines on the Cosmic Ocean, resting between the cycles of time, as his consort Lakshmi presses his feet. In another, the god appears in his vishvarupa, or ultimate form, representing all his avatars at once.
