The Carlos Museum is closed to visitors until further. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and in response to the rapidly evolving information regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue to provide updates here as the situation evolves, and we look forward to connecting with our community on Facebook and Instagram and through our e-newsletter.
Rangoli, graphic patterns created from rice flour, grains, or flowers, are made on thresholds to welcome the Hindu deities Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and Bhudevi, the goddess of the Earth. Visit the special exhibition Transcendent Deities of India, then stop into the studio to create your own rangoli using traditional materials like rice flour and brightly-colored sand.
