Create a Museum Label

An object in isolation can be hard to read. Museums often display objects in context—grouping them with pieces that relate to them in some way. They also share staff expertise through the labels provided for an object and other interpretive methods such as tours (where guides might use everyday objects to make a contemporary connection), catalogues, or Web sites.

Task: Create a label by filling in the information for the object below.

Instructions: We have provided you with five objects that relate to this piece in a variety of ways. Some are from our Museums' collections, others are from our homes. They will give you clues to answer the questions posed for the label. Click on the objects to read their labels.
