Books about Africa and African American culture

Programs such as Carlos Reads, Artful Stories, and Get Wrapped up in Reading encourage visitors to turn to the page in order to better understand the cultures that created the works on view in the galleries.

In honor of DO or DIE: Affect, Ritual, Resistance by Dr. Fahamu Pecou, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite books about African and African American culture.
